Alice...I was saddened to read of Choppy's passing. Time and space have separated us for many years but I will never forget his wonderful and sincere smile. I wanted to extend my thoughts and prayers to you. He was a wonderful person and will forever be in my memories of childhood. I hope you are well and life has been good to you. No matter the time, my memories of Aunt Alice and you two will never fade. My sympathy and thoughts to you and a wish to see each other again.
Ironically, we are in Fayetteville often. My best friends. Live on Sweet Briar Trail and we visit back and forth often. I live in North Carolina now, I do, however go to OZARK often. My son,, Ben Irwin, is an attorney in Dothan, with his father in law, Sam Cherry...law firm of Cherry and Irwin. If you are ever in the Maggie Valley area, please call me or come to stay with us. 334 714 3602 and 19 winter lane, Clyde, nc.
Again, my sympathies with fond memories, Becky

My sincerest condolences to the family. Daniel 12:2 tells us "there will be many of those asleep in the ground of dust who will wake up, these to indefinitely lasting life." Soon all our loved ones will be resurrected to live in a new paradise earth where death will be no more, neither will pain and suffering. What a wonderful day that will be.

Alice, and the entire Johnson family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Choppy was my senior Boy Scout leader as I was growing up in Ozark. Many fond memories of that time. I know He will be missed by each of you. May God comfort you and help you find a way to ease the loss.

Bruce, Just wanted to let you and Michelle know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Please let Blake and Dean know we are thinking of them. My dad was 80 when he passed away in 2006. He moved in with us in 1998 after my mom died. We had some good years before he left but I regret that I didn't slow down a little so we could talk more. It wasn't until after his death that I realized there was so much I needed to say and even more I needed to hear but the dailey routine of life got in the way. Be patient with your mom, shelter her with your love and family, and spend time together because the two of you are each other's link to the man you both love.

I have had the honor of working with Special Agent Lisa Johnson Uhl for several years. No finer Environmental Law Enforcement there is in the United States. Choppy and Mrs. Johnson did a great job on raising her right and teaching her it is ok to hug trees and use them to make homes as well. JGBW

I was fortunate to meet Choppy, the father of my dear friend Lisa, in 2010 at St. Simons Island. It's amazing how similar the two are! I am sad I did not get the chance to really sit down and get to know him. My condolences to your family, Lisa.

Carolyn, I was so shocked to read of Bruce's death in the Montgomery Advertiser tonight. We have such fond memories of your family's time spent in Union Springs and especially at the Presbyterian Church. Bruce was always so faithful to the church, his family, and when I think of him, I think of a gentleman, a professional, and a loving family man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you go through the coming days. Shirley Varner

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will never forget Choppy and we are so blessed to have known him. He made us all laugh and we loved him very much. We often talked about how wonderful it was that he was so involved in the life of his family. He gave so much to his kids and grandkids and it was wonderful to see his love of sports and the outdoors passed on to the next generation! We will miss him dearly! With love, Clayton and Valerie Slay Gentry, Eli and Emily

Its hard to describe the hole that will exist in your lives. You will talk to Choppy every day for awhile and little things will remind you of him and the tears will flow. His smile, laugh and jokes will be with you forever. You can close your eyes and see that face that always gave you peace and laughter. Remember that he is at peace in a warm bright place and that you will be with him again someday. Our love and prayers are with you. Sonny and Judy

Alice, finding Choppy's obit online brought a flood of long ago memories of all us children growing up on the Newton-Maganolia-Sandsbury Streets in Ozark. Being older than must of us, Choppy was always doing something to aggravate us! At this time, I pray that your childhood memories will bring you comfort while mourning the loss of your brother.
