Obituary of F. Bruce Johnson

Mr. Froman Bruce "Choppy" Johnson, Sr., age 71, of Montgomery, died early Monday morning, September 19, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, September 21, 2011, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Robert Marley officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.
Mr. Johnson was born May 8, 1940 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Al Froman Johnson and Lucile Margaret Bruce Johnson. He grew up in Ozark, attended the Ozark City School System, and played basketball for Carroll High School. Choppy graduated from Auburn University and received his Masters Degree from Mississippi State University. Mr. Johnson served in the Army National Guard. He worked with the Alabama Forestry Commission, retiring following twenty-five years of service. Choppy was an avid Mississippi State football fan, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed vegetable gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ted Mallory.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Duncan Johnson of Montgomery;
one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Margaret and Matthew Uhl of Pensacola, Florida;
one son and daughter-in-law, Froman Bruce Johnson, Jr. and Michelle of Prattville;
his step-mother, Delma Johnson of Ozark;
his mother-in-law, Marcelle Duncan of West Point, Mississippi;
one sister, Alice Beth Mallory of Fayetteville, Georgia;
one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Ancie Duncan of West Point, Mississippi;
four grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Dean Johnson, Lawrence Uhl, and McKaylie Uhl.
One nephew, numerous nieces and cousins also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Westview Memorial Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 484, Ozark, Alabama 36361.
