i remember Captain Norman B. Watson as my 1st company commander in my 1st real unit it being F Company, 708th Maintenance Battalion, 8th Infantry division at Finthen Army Airfield Germany in 1974. my very 1st day there i was in the company dayroom playing foosball against the ''old timers'' of the unit and beating them when Cpt Watson came into the dayroom singing to BTO's ''taking care of business'' and asked ''what's going on?''. one of the guys piped up that this new private e-2 was beating everyone in foosball. Cpt Watson then said ''we can't have private e-2's beating people. he then brought the dayroom to attention and promoted me on the spot to PFC e-3. i flew with him a few times as a passenger. he was a hell of a good huey pilot. RIP CPT WATSON.

So very sorry and saddened to hear of Norm's passing. He was a great friend and I enjoyed working with him over the years. Norm was a great patriot, loved his family and was a true friend to so many - always giving and helping others. He was a resource of a wealth of knowledge and his advice and counsel was sought by many. Norm will truly be missed. Lifting the Watson family and circle of friends in prayer.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. Watson in his last few weeks here on earth. He was such a sweet person and was so thankful for everything. He always expressed how wonderful his family was and how much he loved them. I was honored to care for him at his most needed time. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. I know he will be greatly missed

As sadness prevails take comfort in the knowledge that your Fathers death has created a ripple effect . Among the many who were privilaged to share a pathway with him there is a quiet calm as they reflect on the man he was and the influence his life yielded. A Soldier ,husband,Father, grandpa, friend, and the list goes on. His hugs won't be again. His gentle soothing voice will not be heard. His chair at the family meals will be empty. You can speak to him as he will hear you and in a subtle manner you will know he is watching over you , As you begin this journey called grief embrace the giant void left by his death and acknowledge his absence in word and in deed.Speak of him often to your family and friends and yes to his friends. Listen to them as they join the many who loved him and grew from sharing his pathway.Shed tears, withdraw from the days struggle however don't betray his faith in you and your strength and conviction to be strong in the face of sadness.

Norman has been a friend since the first grade. He was always helpful and caring about everyone, I was proud to call him my friend and enjoyed seeing him through the years since his retirement from the Army. As a class member of Carroll High School Class of 1965 he was the highest ranking officer we had and was recognized as such at our 50th class reunion. Norman, may your soul rest in peace with our Heavenly Father our Lord Jesus Christ.
