Mrs. Fannie Myrlene Smith Thomas, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, in Dale Medical Center. She was 81 years old. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 22, 2020, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Tara Chamblee officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. until service time. Mrs. Thomas was born November 19, 1938 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Eddie Albert Smith and Ara Virginia Wallace Smith. She worked for many years as a clerk with Saliba’s Grocery Store in Ozark. Mrs. Thomas loved books and wrote a book of her memoirs “When I Was Growing Up”. She was a very caring person who lived a humble life with her husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Magdaline Eisenman; and one brother, Huey Smith. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Thomas of Ozark; one brother, Jimmy Smith; nephew and niece, Stanley Smith (Amacie) and Stacey Evans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury Cemetery Fund, 2536 County Road 33, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
