Obituary of Jerry Douglas Evans

Mr. Jerry Douglas Evans, a resident of Skipperville, took his final flight into the waiting arms of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in Dale Medical Center at the age of 82. Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 28, 2022, from Skipperville United Methodist Church with Reverend Christopher McCain officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in the church from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Flowers will be accepted. Mr. Evans was born July 2, 1939 in Marion, Illinois to the late Oscar C. and Wanda Bieze. From an early age he was fascinated with aviation. That love of flight led him to join the United States Army in 1961 where he served for over thirty-five years. He was stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama in 1965 where he met and married Patricia “Patsy” Andrews in 1973. He soon became the proud father of his two sons, Johnny and Doug. He served as an instructor pilot at Fort Rucker for over fifty years where he received numerous awards for his abilities as both an aviator and instructor. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his barn and serving his church family and community. Jerry was a man of few words but charmed everyone with his sense of humor. Jerry was the rock his family could always depend on. His family meant more to him than anything. He was the shining example of what a good Christian man, husband, father and grandfather should be. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, A. C. Baize and Wanda Hewlett Baize and his infant granddaughter, Alexandria Evans. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia “Patsy” Andrews Evans; his children, Johnny Evans (Stephanie) and Doug Evans; grandchildren, Mason, Chase, Reece and Riley Evans; and his brother, Dan Bieze (Lyn).
