When she was a “big time” TV star in Germany, covering the return of Father Lawrence Jenco from captivity. She was very nice, friendly, intellegent.

I just became aware this lovely lady passed. I guess I live in a bubble. She helped me pick out my wedding dress at the shop Susan George owned at the Penney Building. I had walked by it several times. She handed it to me and I was done. She had an "eye". What a great loss to humankind and a gain to Heaven.

A vibrant, beautiful light always preceded Cathy's entrances into any room or person's life. We became good friends at Barry College and continued that friendship for many years. Although we somehow lost touch along the way, Cathy remained a staple in my list of 3 best friends in life. She will continue to be the "angel friend" that I laughed and cried with many times.
Rest in Peace, Cathy. My prayers to your family whom you loved so deeply.
Tears and Laughter, Marchie Cellini Ungaro

I am saddened by the news of Cathy's passing. I remember her so fondly at the American Forces Network, Europe-where we served together. She had a smile and a laugh as big as all outdoors, and saw the positive and beauty in everything, and everyone. I have many wonderful memories of
Cathy...they and she will remain in my heart forever.

Oh dear sweet Cathy. We had such wonderful fun together at AFN in the 80's. She was a great sport during our adventures on the road. We were all mostly a bunch of Soldiers. But she was one of us. For many of us she was a pal and a confidante. When I was fortunate enough to work with her on the set it was like flying through the air. When she walked into the room, it just lit up with her genuine beautiful smile. How I remember her laughter. The audience really loved her, and when she met them, she was so humble and gracious. God Bless her Heart.

Cathy worked with many of us military and Defense Department civilians as a broadcaster at American Forces Network Europe in Frankfurt, Germany in the 1980's.
We remember Cathy for her professionalism, but more for her smiles, kindness, and friendly face. That same personality and ability to connect with the television audience in a very warm and human fashion also endeared her to many U.S. military members we served in the 1980's.
Condolences and deepest sympathy to her family and friends in the Dothan, Alabama area. Realize that Cathy's impact was felt way beyond her local community.

Cathy will be remembered by many of us in the American Forces Network Europe family for the cheer and happiness she brought to the job of radio and television broadcasting to the troops. Cathy had that innate ability to reach through the picture tube for that human touch; it was just the kind of person she was on or off camera.
Trust me when I state that her reach was far beyond Dothan, AL.
RIP, Cathy and deepest sympathy to your family and friends.

Cathy was a dear friend of mine. I knew her through my work at the City of Dothan during her time as the Director of Dothan's Downtown Group. We worked many long hours together with street festivals and planning meetings. Cathy was very energetic, creative, and an encourager. She will be missed. RIP!

I will miss the energy and wonder that Cathy always expressed. Cathy always knew you and was pleased to see and talk to you and plan with you about the current exciting developments that she was working. Cathy was a dear person and an asset to this area and especially the Wiregrass and the City of Dothan. We are one smile shorter now. God Bless.

What a true and good natured person Cathy was during the time I knew her at AFN Frankfurt. She always had a big smile, can-do attitude and was ready to go on-air at a moments notice. I remember her motoring confidently in her VW Beetle and she would wave, window rolled down with that big smile! The time at Frankfurt during the 80's was very special for many folks at AFN, and Cathy was a big part of the team that was very successful.

I am really sad to hear the news about our colleague, Cathy. She was a serious journalist and television news co-anchor in the mid-eighties working in the oldest and largest Defense Department radio and television network, the American Forces Network (AFN). Cathy had been volunteering at one of the 12 AFN affiliate stations as a feature "stringer", doing stand-ups on fitness. That changed when the AFN network sergeant major who had worked previously with her, brought her tape to my attention. She jumped at my offer to come to the Frankfurt broadcast center. With help from a lot of supportive in-house professionals, she embarked on a rigorous internship to refine her skills in broadcast writing, news gathering, on-camera work and understanding the television audience. After much hard work, she earned the co-host job for the network evening news. She threw herself in her work, and always looked for the next challenge. Our broadcast family has lost a dedicated and loyal professional; a really decent, kind person, and she was well-admired by everyone. A patriot who loved the military, she understood it's culture. I'm glad to have been her friend. We will miss her.

Hello- I am so sad to hear about Cathy passing away- We worked together in Germany at AFN in the 80s- I re-connected with her in 2012-- we had such a wonderful, long phone conversation as if no time had passed and we were trying to figure out a way to coordinate an AFN get together in Dothan. It never happened and I am even more sad. She was a great spirit on this earth and she will be missed. I cannot stop crying.
