SGM RET Lex Robert Morrill, Sr. (United States Army) died January 19, 2010, at his home after a brave battle with cancer that he WON! Funeral services will be graveside at 11:00 A. M. Friday, January 22, 2010, in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow with full Military Honors and Patriot Guard, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. SGM Morrill was born June 19, 1948 in Walker, Minnesota to William (Bill) Robert Morrill and the late Ruby Pearl Petrie Morrill. He enlisted in 1966 with The United States Army and served during Vietnam War, retiring in 1992. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks & Wheeler Air Force Base, Oahu, HI and at Fort Rucker, Alabama and did a tour in Korea. During his service he received the following commendations; Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Badge Rifle M-14, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M-16, and Overseas Service Bar. Following his retirement from the Army, SGM Morrill worked with Stormin's Towing & Recovery for Norman and Rosyln Horton in Ozark, Alabama for ten years. He was employed with Army Fleet Support at Cairns Air Field at Fort Rucker as a Supply Supervisor for the last four years. SGM Morrill was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Pearl Petrie Morrill, his stepmother, Emma Morrill, his father-in-law, John Harles Davis, Sr., and his sister-in-law, Mary Kennedy Morrill. Survivors include his wife, Myra Davis Morrill of Ozark, AL; father, William (Bill) Robert Morrill of Benedict, MN; mother-in-law, Rosa Davis of Ozark, AL; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick Allen Morrill of Brewton, AL, Lester Jay and Suzy Morrill of Fort Walton, FL, Michael Anthony and Faye Morrill of Chancellor, AL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Steven Soriano, grandsons, Ekahi Justin Keala and Punahele Michael Soriano of Oahu, HI; Angelique (Angie) and Mark Jerrell, grandchildren, Braxton Michael, Jacob Allen and Reyna Angelique Jerrell of Wicksburg, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lex Robert II and Tiffannie Morrill, grandchildren Maranda Lyn, Alonna Alexis, Lexi Kylee Aleece, Alysa Hayli Sheets, and Kyndall Stori Morrill of Crestview, FL; James John and Toni Morrill, grandchildren, Amber Marie, Zane Mathew, Justin Laseter Caraher, Jeremy Leonard Caraher, and Bella Rose Morrill of Crestview, FL. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews and Nieces also survive.
