Obituary of Ernestine Barfield Pipkin

Mrs. Ernestine Barfield Pipkin, age 78, died Saturday evening, May 14, 2011, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Tom Skeen officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 P. M. Wednesday in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Bonifay, Florida, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 9:00 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Pipkin was born September 7, 1932 in Wausau, Florida to the late John Thomas Barfield and Pauline Taylor Barfield. She lived in Panama City, Florida for several years and then Bonifay, Florida with her husband until his death and then moved to Ozark. Mrs. Pipkin worked in the textile industry until her retirement. She was a member of Mabson United Methodist Church, and a former member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church near Bonifay. Mrs. Pipkin was an exquisite seamstress and a life-long Sacred Harp Singer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert E. Pipkin. Survivors include a special niece, Deliliah Spurlock Ward of Newton; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline Pruett of Defuniak Springs, Florida, Margaret and Tommie Spurlock of Ozark, Juanita Hill of Panama City, Florida, Vivian and Roy Vickers of Immokalee, Florida, Victoria and Bill Aplin of Samson, Jewel and Lamar Rowland of Samson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Phylis Barfield of Naples, Florida, Aubrey and Janette Barfield of Niceville, Florida, Oid and Peggy Barfield of Myakka City, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Religious and Historical Association, 401 South County Road 20, Ozark, Alabama 36360. Service Information
